What are you going to be for Halloween?

Xmas Status Check

(c) 2007 Ms. Huis Herself at musenmutter.blogspot.com

Ok, I've got a question for you all. Mr. Kluges loves Thanksgiving and feels it gets too short-changed by the Christmas season (and shopping season) coming early. Therefore, in deference to his feelings and because it's been so busy this year, we haven't really done much Christmas shopping at all, nor are our cards ordered, etc.

So here's my question:

What percentage are you done with your holiday shopping?

(If it seems like y'all are also not very done, then I'll feel better; if you're close to completion, it can be a reason me to talk Mr. Kluges into watching the girls while I go shopping without them! I win either way.)

(c) 2007 Ms. Huis Herself at musenmutter.blogspot.com

I know it's been a while since I've done a question, but here's one that lets you know my weekend in a nutshell.

Which is worse - baby poop or baby spit-up?

A conversation... of sorts

Scene: the kitchen. Mommy reenters the room.

M: Hi, honey. How's your snack going?

P: What are we saying?

M: Well, we're having a conversation, the two of us. That's when we say things to each other. Like, I asked you a question and you can answer it if you want to.

*pause*

P: Aw-ton-muh-nus-sin-di-mit?

*Mommy stares at her blankly for several beats...

...then remembers that Daddy is a Monty Python fan, who's been coaching Pumpkin in some of his favorite quotes, and bursts out laughing.*

So, what's your guess for what "aw-ton-muh-nus-sin-di-mit?" is supposed to be?

Here's an extra clue for you...now's she's sitting there laughing and saying, "Help, help! I'm being repressed!"

The real question is NOT "Which came first: the chicken or the egg?"

It's actually "Chicken and Dumplings - which one is it all about?"

For me, it's all about the dumplings. Yeah!

How 'bout you?

Question #7 - What are YOU going to be for Halloween?

Those of you who know me from real life, know that I LOVE Halloween. While Christmas and Thanksgiving are great friends and family holidays, Halloween is a just-for-fun holiday, with no need to write Xmas cards, or think of thoughtful presents, or fit in visits to all the various segments of family. It's just about dressing up, the candy, and pretending to be scared. Love it.

Here in the land of leprechauns they celebrate Halloween, but it's not quite the same as in the US. Grown-ups don't really dress up. Ok, if you were a young thing going out on the town, you could get away with a funny or sexy costume, but anybody over, say, mid 20s? Ummm, no. You'd be weird.

Which makes me miss our annual costumes-required-or-you-can-borrow-one-of-mine Halloween parties, in large part 'cuz I loved seeing the funny, interesting, creative costumes folks came up with. I mean, one year Pusher and Kashka_z staged a skit (with props!) in the hallway of our apartment building to explain their costumes. Mr. Kluges (who can't stand uncomfortable costumes), once wore black jeans, a black t-shirt with a Guinness logo, and a "bottlecap" hat made from a yellow plastic plate. The most abstract costume I can think is NoNickTodd coming as a lower case letter i. Hilarious, if a little hard to guess. But the creativity and humor were great every year.

So, here's Question #7 - What are YOU going to be for Halloween? Or, (like if you want to keep it a secret until the day), what's a costume you've done of which you're especially proud? Feel free to add your comment in after the day as well... and if you want to email me a photo to either see for myself or to put up here, do so! I'd love it!!

Question #6 - Scary Movies

First of all, big congrats to Syl, BuddyPants, and Kitten on the new addition to the family! Welcome to the world, Calleigh!

In other, less important news, Jurassic Park was on TV yesterday, and it made me remember vividly how very on-the-edge-of-my-seat I was the first time I saw the scene where the velociraptors have the two kids cornered in the big shiny stainless steel kitchen. I remember almost having a heart attack when one is charging the girl and she's trying to pull down that door, but then it turns out the raptor was seeing her reflection when it crashes into the side of a different cupboard. And when the boy keeps slipping on the ice in the freezer and almost can't get out? My legs were sore afterwards; I had them so tense trying to "help" him go!

Now, I've been known to have nightmares where Something (I'm never sure what it is, but it's scary!) is chasing me around inside a building and I can't get out, so maybe that part hit a little closer to home, but still... my adrenaline was pumping!

So, what movie or movie scene has scared the beejeezes out of you?

(By the way, if you want to see Questions 1-5, they're on my old site.)
