Katie's got nothin' on her

(c) 2007 Ms. Huis Herself at musenmutter.blogspot.com

You might have heard about the picture of CBS's anchorwoman Katie Couric and how it was Photoshopped to make her look slimmer. Here's one link to a story about it, but put some variation of "Katie Couric thinner Photoshop" into Google and you'll find tons of others about it.

The reason I bring it up is this - based on Penguin's 6 month check-up today, allegations have been made...

Alleged "Slimmed Down Version"
(See? Normal, happy, healthy baby!)

Alleged Original

No, seriously, here are her stats:

Height: 26 1/2 inches 78th percentile

Head Circumference: 41 1/2 cm 23rd percentile

Weight: 17 lbs. 14 oz. 100th percentile!!!

Yup, top of the charts, our girl! Go, Penguin!

Ok, so if she's 100th, what the heck is Sprout's 19 + pounds??? 6 months already? My how time goes by.

Different charts? Everything over 17 lbs. somenumberofoz. is 100%? *shrug* I don't know, I just know that's what the nurse told us.

(Dr. said not to worry - BF babies often are chubbsville for the first while but that the percentage of fat in breastmilk starts decreasing about now so she'll gradually (eventually) slim down a bit. Pumpkin was not quite so extreme, but also rather chunky around this age.)

Either that or they just don't want to freak me out and write everything as 97% +... Isn't it nice to know that they're healthy and getting enough to eat though? I can't imaging having to constantly worry about that.

Penguin is beautiful just as she is! She doesn't need the photoshopping! She should be proud of her "curves" ;)

Ours was always about 65-75% but then last spring, was 25-35%, so now I have to take her in on Thrusday to make sure she's catching back up. Appraently they often grow over the summer. I have a feeling she's okay now, but it will be nice to har it.
